K-pop

K-pop, or Korean-pop is a music genre with it’s origin in South Korea, Asia. It’s a very wide genre which combines many different music styles, for example RnB, pop and hip-hop. The music is often accompanied with ellaborate dance numbers.

The most common form within k-pop is so called boy- and girlbands where a team of singers and dancers create a group and performe together. Each person in the group has their own special position ranging from “lead singer” to “lead dancer” to “visual”. The idols are mostly born in the late 80’s or the 90’s, new groups are constantly presented lowering the average age of the performers.

The most famous k-pop performer in the world is Psy, most known for “Oppa Gagnamn Style”. He is however not the most traditional person in the k-pop world.

Follow our segment “K-pop A-Z” where we will introduce some, hopefully most, of the k-pop groups. Starting with A and work us through the alphabet one by one, and then all over again!^^
